School starts Thursday in Greene County, and that means shortened hours at the Jefferson municipal pool.
Weekdays Aug. 23-31, the pool will be open for adult lap swim from 11:30 am to 1 pm, and for general swim from 4 to 7 pm. On Saturday and Sunday the pool will be open as usual, from 1 to 8 pm with family hour 5:30-6:30.
The pool season will end with the annual Doggie Paddle Saturday, Sept. 1, from 1 to 3 pm. The cost for dogs is $1 per paw, with all proceeds going to the Animal Protection Education (A.P.E.) charity.
According to A.P.W. director, the fundraising goal is $250 to purchase two new pulse oximeters to replace 10-year-old equipment in the mobile vet clinic. “We pride ourselves on providing a quality service with good equipment like you would find in a large metro animal hospital,” she said.
A.P.E. provides low-cost spay and neuter services for dogs and cats.
